-Back to the present. Von Rump be creepin'. He found out where Etienne lives and is legit standing on a ladder with binoculars and waiting until the smoke clears before going into the house. 

-Poor Marie wakes up and is hungry. She walks around the cellar and finds two cans and hopes that they contain the sweet peaches Madame Manec had given her. 

-Sergeant Von Rump enters into Saint-Malo with water, morphine and his field pistol. He is determined to find the "Sea of Flames" and believes that it is in Etienne's home. As he approaches the house, he is surrounded by death and seems to be unmoved.

-Marie climbs to the third floor to go to the bathroom and is about to open the first can when the trip wire behind her rings the bell. The ringing of the bell means that someone has entered the house. (CREEPER ALERT!!)

-Switch scene to Hotel of Bees. Bernd is in extreme pain as Volkheimer hacks away at the rubble on the stairway. Bernd knows there is something wrong with his leg and chest. Being the nice guy that he is, Volkheimer shines the light on Bernd to give him water but shuts it before Bernd can see what happened to his leg. 

-Volkheimer never stops trying to get them out. He refuses to use grenades to blast their way out and claims it'd be suicide since they were in such a tight area.

-He finds a radio and looks for things Werner can use to repair it. He finds bent screwdrivers and old fusesand hands it over to Werner. 

-Werner says he is giving up on life. He thinks of green grass and sunlight. Volkheimer reminds Werner of his sister and hopes that his love for her will help him fight for life.
