Nine - May 1944

-Werner and his gang arrive in Saint-Malo after being notified that there are illegal transmissions being made in the area. A colonel tells them that he believes that there is a resistance movement. He describes Etienne's transmissions.

-One night Werner hears a broadcast that sounds familiar. (He's heard this voice on the radio when he was a child. He and Jutta listened to Etienne's broadcasts when they were little.) The broadcast was followed by Clair de Lune. Because this broadcast reminded him of his happy childhood, he doesn't admit that he's found something to the gang.

-He traces the transmissions to Etienne's house and expects to see a Frenchmen but instead sees Marie leaving the house. He follows her to the bakery and then watches her come out. His heart was pounding in his chest. He follows her until she disappears into the fog. Werner can't stop thinking about her. (aw babe)

-Neumann One and Neumann Two are sent into war. Volkheimer is sure that he and Werner will both be called to war soon.

-There are new orders that forbid anyone from walking the streets without special authority.

-Werner sees the kazillion of leaflets blowing in the sky advising the inhabitants to flee (woot woot we're back to the beginning)

-Von Rump finds out that his disease is getting worse and that he has tops three or four months left to live.

-He gets a call that Daniel LeBlanc (Marie's father) was arrested for conspiracy in January 1941. Claude the perfumer aka the dickhead tells von Rump that LeBlanc was living next to him.

-Marie goes to the bakery and the owner Madame Ruelle is crazy happy. She tells Marie that 'the hour has come' and that the Americans are coming closer.

-Marie heads to Harold Bazin's secret place and wades in the pool. When she comes out von Rump confronts her and asks her about what her father was doing from the time they arrived at Saint Malo to when he was arrested. He keeps pestering with questions until she tells him that her father left her nothing but a stupid model of Saint Malo and a great uncle who feared everything. She then tells him to leave. Von Rump thinks Marie's aggressiveness is her way of hiding something. He thinks there's something up when there really isn't.

-Since Marie came home late and worried the living crap out of Etienne, she forbid him from going out. She is secretly relieved because she's scared of the German.

-Marie thinks more into her father's message and realizes that her father meant that the thing she was looking for was in the model of Etienne's house. She goes to check it out and finds the blue "Sea of Flames. She realizes that it's the thing the German was looking for and believes it should be thrown into the ocean.

-The Allies need the coordinates of flak batteries and to get them Etienne must wander through town with a notepad and compass. Someone needs to do it before the Germans intern all the men in the city the next day. Etienne agrees to help.

-Etienne sent the coodinates for the Hotel of Bees air-defense battery and only needs to send two more coordinates. He makes his way to the second location when the German limps out of the dark.

-Marie wakes up to gun fire and Etienne is still not home. (Don't worry Etienne is still alive).
